Fire Department Training Update

Training Session Thursday, April 21, 2011 - FORWARD HOSE LAY
During this operation, the engine locates and ties into the nearest fire hydrant as rapidly as possible in order to start the "attack" on a structure fire. In this exercise the engine will move approximately 50 to 70 yards from the hydrant and the attack hose will be pulled about 50 to 70 yards perpindicular from the engine. After a full briefing at the station, we deployed to the new auditorium parking lot for hands on training.
We had great participation, the rookies were running in the 2-1/2 minutes to 3 minutes and the officers set the mark at 1 minute 27 seconds from the time
the engine came up to fighting the fire. It was a lot of fun with a lot of competitive banter.
Until next time.
